How to Qualify

To become a driving instructor you must have held a full licence for 4 years (a foreign or automatic licence can count towards the 4 years); be able to read a vehicle number plate from a minimum of 27.5 metres (90 feet); and pass the Driving & Vehicle Standards Agency 3 part driving instructor examination.

If your licence has penalty points (generally a maximum of 4) it is unlikely to affect your application.  Penalty points already spent will not count. To become a driving instructor you must not have been disqualified during the last 4 years, not even for one day.

You must be of good character, with no current motoring or non-motoring convictions as these would be taken into account.

Introduction:Step1- ADI Training
There are 3 qualifying exams you must pass before you will be entered onto the approved driving instructor register.

  • Part 1 – Theory Test
  • Part 2 – Eyesight and Driving Test
  • Part 3 – Test of Instructional Ability

The course is fully comprehensive & covers everything you need to pass the exams.

  • Our Driving Instructor Trainers are all ORDIT registered.
  • You can choose which level best suits you.
  • Our success rate since March 2005 has been 100%. (To qualify this statement, this means every person we have taken on as a franchised instructor has passed their part 3 exam on or before their final attempt.)
